Ismael Aranda's Story
After High School I went to a seminary in New Mexico to study to be a priest. When I was growing up, I always wanted to be a priest. My family and friends thought that was a great idea as well, but as it turned out, it wasn't meant to be. After three years of studying and my dad's passing, I decided it was not the life I wanted to follow and stayed home. I worked as a Sports Writer for a couple of years at the Pecos Enterprise and then went into Recreation. For the next five years, I was a Physical Education coach and Assistant Recreation Director for the West Texas Children's Home in Pyote. Then went into Corrections as a Jailer for the Reeves County Detention Center for the next 22 years. During those years, I worked in the Infirmary, Booking & Releasing Dept., Chief-Securi...Expand for more
ty Officer (Captain), and Recreation Director. After meeting the 80 year rule for retirement, I retired. Presently am working as Night Security at the Reeves County Hospital District in Pecos.
I am married to Sylvia and have been so for 28 years. We have five children: Magdalena (Maggie), Maribel, Marrisa, Melissa, and Ismael Jr. We have eight granchildren from 8 years of age to 3 months, and growing!!!
In my free time, I try to go to the golf course and play a round (if possible). I also like to do my house chores (mow the lawn, and be a handy man). I'm always up for a movie at home or at the theatre. I also like to get together with the family and play a card or board game. If I need to relief stress I go to my keyboard or guitar and meditate and have a great time.
